Dr. Nikolay Yelizarov, RAc

Dr. Yelizarov completed his Medical Degree in Astrakhan Medical University in Russia in1980. Dr. Yelizarov has studied alternative medicine for years and in 1987 he received a diploma in Acupuncture. Resolving muscle and tendon strain injuries has been a passion of Nikolay and since1994 he has specialized in this area.


He wrote the book‚”Treatment for muscle strain injuries and related conditions”, (1-932303- 07-3) published in 2003. His desire to enhance his knowledge and treatment strategy resulted in Dr. Yelizarov to complete a Master of Science in Human Kinetics at UBC in 2007. He is currently a co-investigator in two scientific studies:

1. Nature of Delayed Onset of Muscle Soreness

2. Role of back erectors in non-specific low back pain .


The knowledge of pathophysiology of muscle injuries and acupuncture has helped Dr. Yelizarov successfully combine Western and Oriental approaches to acupuncture. His medical expertise is in pathophysiology of musculoskeletal and neurological overuse injuries and their response to electrical stimulation. The parameters of the electrical stimulation are differentiated with respect to the injury stage. The goal of each treatment for Dr. Yelizarov is muscle strength, improvement in flexibility and reduction of stiffness.
