Romi Topper, BSc, RMT

 

After completing a Psychology degree at the University of Winnipeg in 1998, Romi Topper decided to pursue the study of Eastern-based medicine, rather than pursue Western medicine at a medical school. In 2001, he completed the 3-year program at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy, and began working as an RMT in Vancouver. In 2002, Romi moved to Winnipeg and while maintaining a fulltime Massage practice in the Elmwood area, he completed a science degree in Neuropsychology by 2007.

His work has given Romi a deep understanding of the human being and the importanceof maintaining physical, mental and spiritual health. Massage Therapy is an excellent tool for physical health, and Reiki for spiritual health. Romi has been using Reiki healing as a spiritual tool to help others and himself since 2006, and he is a Reiki Master of the Usui lineage. He recently moved back to Vancouver and is practicing at the Electra Health floor, in beautiful downtown Vancouver.

Romi's Practice:

A massage therapy session with Romi begins with an initial history taking assessment of your current state of physical health. Any past or present injuries and conditions can affect the type of treatment most relevant to your current physical and emotional state. Range of Motion testing and manual palpation give him the information he needs to properly treat each individual's specific condition. Some clients need a lighter more relaxing massage, whereas others require a deeper treatment. As well, conditions for which massage is contraindicated can benefit by a gentle Reiki Healing session.

Romi has been an RMT for 7 years and, among others, has extensive experience treating clients with Headaches, Whiplash-related injuries, Tendonitis, Mid and Low Back Pain and Sciatica.

Description of Reiki Healing:

Reiki is administered by placing the hands on or above the body. It is based on the ancient Chinese theory which states that unseen life energy flows through us, sustains us and allows us to be alive. This "Chi" energy flows from the Reiki practitioner's hands into the client's body. It is common for a client to feel warmth or tingling as this energy flows. Reiki induces a state of deep relaxation in which healing can occur on all levels of a person's being: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

Description of Heated Stone Massage:

Heated Stone Massage is a 1 hour full-body Relaxation Massage that is performed using heated Basalt stones. These stones are volcanic rocks that have become smooth over millions of years by water currents. Oil is applied to the body part to be treated, and then the heated stones are used to massage the muscles and soft tissues. The soothing deep heat and pressure create a very relaxing, stress-relieving treatment. Some practitioners believe that the stones themselves have healing properties, and transmit the earth's healing energies to the client during a session. At least 1-hour notice must be given to receive this treatment, so the stones can be heated properly.
