Infrared Acupuncture - in Vancouver
by Serenity Aberdour, ND
New therapy available – Infrared Acupuncture
At a naturopathic conference a few weeks ago, I was introduced to a small hand held device from France that uses infrared heat to stimulate acupuncture points. This infrared treatment can be combined with acupuncture or used alone to help relieve conditions such as arthritis, frozen shoulder, back pain, menstrual pain, poor circulation and a variety of other conditions.
The deep, soothing heat produced by this new device simulates the
effects of moxibustion, a traditional Chinese medicine treatment that
involves heating acupuncture points using a burning stick of mugwort
herb. Some of you may be familiar with moxibustion or “moxa” and may
have experienced its benefits in the past. Although it is a wonderful
therapy, you may also be familiar with the smoke and smell that
moxibustion produces. This new infrared technology will allow me to
offer the benefits of moxibustion without the smoke or the smell.
The technique of applying “moxa” to acupuncture points is an integral
part of traditional Chinese medicine and provides deep, therapeutic heat
that is valuable in helping to relieve pain, improve circulation, relax
muscle tension and increase the impact of acupuncture treatments.
I am happy to be able to offer this new and effective infrared
acupuncture therapy at the Downtown Vancouver
Electra Health Floor. If you would like more information about this new therapy, feel
free to email me at
