Michael Mulvey, MD, FRCPC, psychiatry
Michael Mulvey is a registered physician with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of B.C. and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC). His area of clinical expertise is the diagnosis and treatment of mood and anxiety disorders. Dr. Mulvey has a particular interest in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) for the treatment of anxiety disorders.
Dr. Mulvey completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Biology at the University of British Columbia. He studied two additional years of Psychology in the UBC Faculty of Arts. Ultimately, a year of travel through Central America and Turkey led to new interests in culture, language and foreign study. In 1996, Dr. Mulvey entered the bilingual curriculum at the Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico.
Dr. Mulvey graduated as a medical doctor in 2000. He entered the psychiatry residency program at the University of California Irvine (UCI) Medical Center. He graduated as an adult psychiatrist in 2004. Dr. Mulvey then returned to Canada to fulfill his return-of-service obligations, including work in a medically underserved region. He completed a final year of residency at McMaster University and graduated from their Postgraduate Psychotherapy Program. He went on to work as a community psychiatrist in the underserved communities of Fergus and Orangeville, Ontario.
Dr. Mulvey returned to Vancouver to establish a private practice in 2007. He immediately received an enthusiastic response from referring physicians, and designated his practice at full capacity in 2010.
