Michael Mulvey MD, FRCPC, Psychiatry

Dr. Michael Mulvey holds a specialist certificate in Psychiatry and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada. His area of clinical interest is the diagnosis and treatment of mood and anxiety disorders. Dr. Mulvey has a particular interest in short-term forms of psychotherapy to explore the interactions between emotions, thought patterns, behaviours, and physical feelings.

 
 

Dr. Mulvey initially completed a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of British Columbia. Two additional years studying Psychology and a year of travel in Central America led to new interests in culture, language and mental health. He subsequently pursued bilingual medical training at Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico. After graduating as a medical doctor in 2000, he entered a psychiatry residency program at the University of California Irvine Medical Center. He graduated as a psychiatrist in 2004 and returned to Canada to complete his return-of-service obligations. Dr. Mulvey spent a year at McMaster University where he completed their Psychotherapy training program.  He went on to work for two years as an adult psychiatrist in the underserved communities of Fergus and Orangeville, Ontario. Dr. Mulvey is pleased to be back home in Vancouver and is looking forward to developing an independent practice.
